The plant is the determining factor for the cultivation strategy within your company. To assess how the plant has developed over a certain period, you will need to perform various measurements (Crop Registration). Based on these measurements, and for example, the weather forecast, you can regulate the climate to create optimal growing conditions for the plant. Crop registration, combined with climate data, can also provide valuable insights into both past and current conditions for the management team or your crop advisor. However, performing these measurements is often time-consuming, and the method of recording can vary from one company to another. To assist growers with this process, LetsGrow.com has developed measuring tools to standardize the process. In short, by using the tools provided by LetsGrow.com, you can save time, minimize errors, and ensure consistent measurements. These measurements can also be used in forming your growing strategy via our tool called the Strategy Manager. If you’d like more information about the Strategy Manager, please contact your LetsGrow.com representative.
2. Tomato Registration
The Tomato Registration is a basic registration module. This module can be used to input crop registrations into the MyLetsGrow platform via your computer. The MyLetsGrow platform is also where the data can be displayed and shared with other users to compare or use the data alongside your climate, irrigation, or other modules. This module does include some calculations.
2.1 Contents of the module
The module includes the following registrations:
3.1 How to enter crop measurements using the Data App?
To start crop registration using the Data App, the app first needs to be configured. Once configured, you can enter the data
3.1.1 Configuring the Data App
3.1.1.1 How to download the app?
You can download the app from the Apple Store, Google Play Store, or Windows Store. Search for LetsGrow Data App.
3.1.1.2 How to get started?
First, log in with your personal LetsGrow.com account. If you don’t have an account yet, you can create one via the following link: https://www.letsgrow.com/en/register/. Once logged in: Go to ‘Select Module’ and choose the module in which you want to register data. If the correct module is not visible, it needs to be shared with your account by your company administrator. Contact your representative or the helpdesk to request access to the module.
3.1.1.3 Select multiple locations
Once selected, the name of the chosen module will appear (blue box). If it’s not the correct one, click the ‘Change Module’ button (orange box). If the module is correct, proceed to section 3.2. If not, follow these steps:
Go to ‘Settings’ (green box)
Click ‘Select Multiple Items’ (yellow box) to select plant-level items you want to register. Single items are registered once per week per location. Multiple items are recorded per plant/stem and usually averaged in the overview.
Enable the items for multiple registrations
Click ‘Save’ and confirm with ‘OK’ when prompted.
3.1.1.4 Adding locations (plants)
Now go to ‘Edit Data’ (orange box). Start by adding plants (referred to as locations) by clicking ‘Add Location’ (blue box). A pop-up will appear where you can name each location. Use recognizable names to easily identify where you are entering data. Locations are sorted alphabetically.
3.1.1.5 How to add a new growing point or lateral shoot?
When a new growing point, stem, or lateral shoot appears, you can add this as a new location. For example, the growing point of plant 1 can be named Plant 1a. To keep things organized, it’s best to keep names as similar as possible to the main stem.
3.1.2 Entering the data
Once the app is configured and locations are added, you can begin registering data.
3.1.2.1 Data entry at location level
When selecting a location, you will see a screen where you can input measurements in the designated fields (blue box). Swipe left or right to switch between locations.
A gray value with a * indicates historical data. You can overwrite it with a new value.
The location name is shown at the top (green box)
Use arrows (orange box) to quickly move to the next entry
Change the date using the calendar icon (orange box)
Use the double arrow to jump to the most recent entry
Add comments, photos, or videos via the paperclip icon
3.1.2.2 Single registrations
In the single registration section, you can enter data such as:
Stem density #/m²
Stem density at harvest #/m²
Production kg/m²
These can be customized per crop type.
3.1.3 Sending the data
Once your data is registered, a checkmark will appear next to the location name. Go back to the home screen to find the ‘Send Data’ option.
3.2 Registering data via computer
If you prefer entering data using a computer, there are two methods via the module, or via the crop group. For the data entry via the module only the items linked to that module. The data entry via the crop group shows all items available within the crop group.
3.2.1 Entering data via modules
Click Modules in the left navigation menu (orange box)
Click on Tomato Crop and select a module corresponding with the locatation, comparment or variety
Once selected, you will see charts and overviews. Click Data Entry to enter your data
To enter historical data, use the week selection drop-down menu (orange outline) or arrows to move through the weeks.
Important notes:
Items with a * are averages from multiple locations and must be entered through the Data App. However, you can view and adjust this data via the date entry
Some items are parameters—values used in further calculations until a new value is entered. The current parameter value appears next to the item after data entry
Don’t forget to click Save. The data will then be visible in the crop group
3.2.2 Entering data via the crop group
You can also enter data directly via the crop group. This shows all available items for that group.
Click the Crop Groups icon (blue box)
Select the desired crop group
Click Manual Entry (orange box)
If you have multiple crops added, you will need to select the correct one before entering data.
To input historical data, use the week selection drop-down menu or the arrow buttons.
Important notes:
Items with a * are averages from multiple locations and must be entered via the Data App. However, you can still view and edit the values for each plant/location via the date entry
Some items are parameters and their value is displayed next to the item name after input
Be sure to click Save once finished to make the data visible in the crop group.
